When I took the picture that whole area was rural, quiet, and utterly charming, just across the river from the city. I haven't been out to the chroy since it has been developed, but sadly I imagine that that rural serenity is not to be found there any more.MMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00487790037045407866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-305308494237015822.post-90119312052416976092011-10-06T22:45:17.739+07:002011-10-06T22:45:17.739+07:00I know the tower you mean on the East bank of the ...I know the tower you mean on the East bank of the Mekong at Kampong Cham city. The tower on Chrouy Changva was always referred to as a lighthouse but you're probably right. If it still existed it would be far from the southern tip of the peninsula by now. I should have had a look for the base of it before they started all the recent development.<br />I'm not sure which island you mean? where was it exactly?Phnom Penh pasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02595114599180734677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-305308494237015822.post-80569675905114684082011-10-06T22:33:22.569+07:002011-10-06T22:33:22.569+07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Phnom Penh pasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02595114599180734677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-305308494237015822.post-90915016954817656552011-10-03T22:23:45.003+07:002011-10-03T22:23:45.003+07:00Like the similar structure in Kompong Cham, I beli...Like the similar structure in Kompong Cham, I believe the tower at the end of Chroy Changvar peninsula was a watchtower to look out for ships arriving. We went on a boat trip up the Mekong recently and on the West side at the northern tip of the island someone has built a Chinese looking watchtower that we were told is part of a guesthouse.Dan Solohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13204007260401315465noreply@blogger.com
