Axara on Sihanouk Boulevard








This building on Sihanouk Boulevard is pictured first in around 1996 and then more recently.It's been converted into an upmarket Boutique and they've done a very fine job on the refurbishment. The top picture is by Serge Corrieras.

I would have to disagree with it being fine. It looks nice of course with new paint and roof tiles. But they did a poor job of restoration if all they did was just remodeled it with new material. Note the missing roof ornamentation. I can't imagine what other architectural details were just removed and replaced with new material without consideration for fine colonial ornamentation. :(
