A couple of pictures of Ras Tafari, otherwise known as Haile Selaisse I, Emperor of Ethiopia, at a parade in Olympic Stadium during his visit to Cambodia in 1968.
The writing on the placards held by the crowd read "Viva His Majesty Haile Selassie I" and "Viva Cambodian-Ethiopian Friendship."

There's an old rock steady (proto reggae) tune called Cambodia by The Blake Boy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXYzrlzaYoo). Not many lyrics apart from "Cambodia".
I've always wondered about this song since I came across it on a Trojan Records compilation about ten years ago. Rock Steady was popular in around 67/68. Discogs.com does not give a year for its release, but its style suggests it was released around that time. Perhaps it was inspired by the visit of His Imperial Majesty to the Kingdom ... hmmm
Great find, I nice track, I was big on reggae for years but haven't listened to much recently. Cheers!
Hi
I canot find the pictures on the archives link you gave.
I've fund an other picture amazing with written Vive Sa Majesté Haile Selassie by the people in french and not in ethiopian letter. I was wondering how they made to switch the letter!?
